Wilson Benesch will return to The Bristol Show - the UKs leading audio exhibit - marking the British design and manufacturers 35th Anniversary.

Wilson Benesch will primarily focus on the demonstration of its latest version and third iteration of the iconic ‘Discovery’ standmount loudspeaker. The Discovery design was first seen in 2006 and has since collected awards from across the globe, becoming one of Wilson Benesch’s most popular products. In 2024, having just collected the ‘Best Pick’ Award from German hifi journal Litemagzin, Wilson Benesch will kick off its 35th Anniversary year with the Discovery 3zero at The Bristol Show.

In addition Wilson Benesch will provide attendees with the opportunity to experience two demonstrations of its new IGx Infrasonic Generator at 12-noon and 2pm daily. The IGx Infrasonic Generator redefines the concept of a subwoofer with its unique push-pull drive system design. Replacing the acclaimed Torus Infrasonic Generator introduced in 2006, the IGx inherits a legacy of excellence. Jonathan Valin’s review in The Absolute Sounds hailed the Torus as a stroke of genius, praising its unique design featuring two magnets and two voice coils driving an 18” carbon fibre diaphragm. The IGx’s impact transcends mere bass reinforcement, elevating spatial and timing information across the frequency band, enriching the listener’s experience like never before.

As customary, Wilson Benesch will present its systems in the serene and spacious surroundings of the first-floor conservatory. This year Wilson Benesch will be joined by Trilogy and CAD in a showcase of British high-end audio. Award winning and critically acclaimed, these three esteemed companies unite in a Festival of Sound.

A moment in time. A snap shot into the first full

A moment in time. A snap shot into the first full production of the new GMT System One Turntable motor chassis here at the Wilson Benesch factory.

The motor chassis is machined from a solid 30kg / 66lbs aluminium billet to create the final motor chassis component which weighs 5kg / 11lbs.

The motor chassis forms the primary structural component and reference within the OMEGA Drive. The chassis is in turn fitted with a stator, a series of PCBs and 21x precision-wound coils, along with the platter. These housings on the underside of the motor chassis are machined in one operation which legislates for absolute precision and repeatable accuracy that is critical to the function and accuracy of each motor Wilson Benesch builds. The 0.01mm tolerance of our machining centres eliminates any potential discrepancies or variance in production that would affect the performance of the motor. By achieving such precision, we are able to establish harmonious synchronicity in the OMEGA Drive through the coils and surrounding NdFeB magnets. The result is optimal performance and accuracy.

The motor chassis component requires 6 hours of machining, split into two operations per chassis. No effort, nor compromise is spared. The OMEGA Drive is the world’s first and only, low torque, zero cogging, direct drive motor that has been developed from the ground up to deliver a new level of accuracy and performance in analogue replay.
