More Than the Sum of Its Parts: Wilson Benesch Greenwich at Rhapsody

A celebration of music, technology and the art of listening.

There are places where high-end audio equipment is demonstrated, and there are places where the experience of music through a high-end audio system becomes something altogether more profound.

Rhapsody, in the Netherlands, belongs firmly in the latter category.

Created through the vision of Harry van Dalen and Michael van Polen, Rhapsody brings together music, technology, art, exceptional coffee, fine wine and live performance in an environment where each element contributes to a greater whole.

It is a philosophy that has established Rhapsody as a distinctive destination for music lovers and audiophiles alike.

Over the weekend of 30–31 October 2026, Rhapsody provided the setting for the Netherlands launch of the Wilson Benesch Greenwich Turntable System, the latest addition to the multi-award-winning GMT® Collection.

The Art of the High-End Listening Experience

Rhapsody has developed a reputation for presenting high-end audio products in environments that extend well beyond conventional equipment demonstrations. At the recent Dutch Audio Event, Harry and Michael transformed a hotel exhibition space into an intimate, jazz café-inspired listening environment, welcoming packed audiences into an atmosphere designed around music rather than equipment alone.

The same thinking is evident throughout Rhapsody itself.

Carefully considered surroundings, exceptional hospitality and a shared appreciation of music create an atmosphere in which technology becomes part of a much broader experience.

During the Greenwich launch, this extended to a live concert by Frimangron at the Rhapsody residence adjoining the listening rooms, bringing the immediacy and authenticity of live performance into the same environment as some of the world’s most sophisticated audio reproduction technologies.

A Unified Philosophy

There is a natural connection between Rhapsody’s approach and the engineering philosophy that defines the Wilson Benesch GMT Collection.

At the heart of Greenwich is the belief that truly exceptional analogue reproduction cannot be achieved simply by assembling individually accomplished components.

The OMEGA Drive, ALPHA Drive electronics, GRAVITON® Ti tonearm, TESSELLATE® Ti cartridge and R1 Carbon Rack form a unified system, developed through a common engineering philosophy.

Each element is optimised for its individual function while contributing to the performance of the complete system. Rather than treating each component in isolation, Wilson Benesch has developed an integrated analogue replay platform in which the relationship between individual technologies is fundamental to the final result.

The whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

It is precisely this principle that makes Rhapsody such an appropriate setting for the Greenwich.

From Greenwich to GMT One System

Across Friday and Saturday, Wilson Benesch Sales & Marketing Director Luke Milnes presented the Greenwich Turntable System to packed audiences through eight dedicated demonstrations, four on each day.

The presentations explored the technologies underpinning the GMT Collection, their individual engineering principles and their collective contribution to the reproduction of recorded music.

The response was striking in its consistency.

Listeners repeatedly drew comparisons between the sound of Greenwich and the sonic character of an original master tape, long regarded as one of the most important references in analogue audio reproduction.

For Harry van Dalen and Michael van Polen, these observations reinforced their own experience of the GMT Collection.

Having previously worked alongside Wilson Benesch to install a flagship GMT One System for a customer in the Netherlands, both identified the same fundamental sonic qualities in Greenwich.

Despite their different positions within the collection, Greenwich and GMT One share the core principles of the OMEGA Drive and ALPHA Drive technologies. This continuity of engineering provides a consistent approach to preserving the musical information contained within the original recording, from the entry point of the collection through to its flagship.

Importantly, the modular architecture of the GMT Collection also establishes a progressive upgrade pathway, allowing customers to advance through the product range while retaining their investment in core hardware.

It is an approach that reflects a commitment not only to ultimate performance, but also to the long-term value and longevity of the technologies at the heart of the system.

A Celebration of Music

Ultimately, the weekend was about considerably more than the introduction of a new turntable.

It was a celebration of music, the technologies that allow it to be reproduced and the environments that make listening a memorable experience.

From the Greenwich presentations to the live performance by Frimangron, Rhapsody demonstrated how the combination of carefully considered individual elements can create something genuinely exceptional.

Wilson Benesch extends its sincere thanks to Harry van Dalen, Michael van Polen and everyone at Rhapsody for their continued partnership, exceptional hospitality and commitment to the art of music reproduction.

And to everyone who joined the celebrations across Friday and Saturday, thank you!!
