It’s been a frantic fortnight both within and outside the company. Delivery was made by HURCO of yet another new Vertical Machining Centre, the second in less than 18 months. The machine is now producing it’s first run of new components in the form of Vector baffles for the new Geometry Series orders. In the coming months it will produce the first major production run of the huge sections of aircraft grade alloy for the Cardinal.
The images show Shaun Wild, one of the most talented engineers in the region and Senior Engineer at Wilson Benesch for more than 17 years, preparing the 200 kg precision ground bed plate. All the co-ordinates and fixing points on the bed plate are mapped to the CAD CAM system to enable rapid job changes and minimum set up time. It also enables those tiny details to be fine tuned over time as each component and method of machining is optimised.
