Redferns sold to Getty Images

“David, to me, is probably the greatest jazz photographer in the world” Buddy Rich

“You know Redfern. He’s the Cartier-Bresson of jazz” Dexter Gordon

“David, you’re one helluva photographer, keep shooting!” Frank Sinatra

As you will be aware, the Wilson Benesch web site features a Redfern image every month and has benefited from a comfortable relationship with one of the world’s great photographers for some years. After 18 months of negotiation, David has sold the library to Getty Images. He has bought the gallery and secured 1000 images in perpetuity. In addition, he has committed to an exclusive 5-year contract to be a Getty photographer. More importantly however, finally he will have more time to do what he wants, at a more leisurely pace. The image being used this month still has the Redfern watermark, to mark this occasion.

We would like to wish David and his partner Suzy every success with their exciting new developments and look forward to sharing with you, the cream of the crop from David’s amazing career.

We selected an early Stevie Wonder image from Davids collection, to mark the occasion of Barack Obama’s first presidential visit to the U.K.
