The Square – Wilson Benesch re-invents the entry level.
The Square development grew out of the Torus research project. It takes a completely different approach to loudspeaker design with soft materials (MDF). To date loudspeaker design has placed high expectations on the wood based cabinet. In contrast, the Square simply reduces the cabinets responsibilities with some interesting design elements, that respect the laws of nature, rather than ignore them. It follows, that the less work the cabinet has to do, the less it complains and the less noise it makes! The result, a significant improvement in the signal to noise ratio.
By bending to nature, the Square achieves a quality of “box free” sound that maintains the hard won hallmark of all Wilson Benesch loudspeakers, transparency. So for multi channel users, looking for a system that delivers huge bandwidth of the highest fidelity, the search is over. Wilson Benesch owners can now add additional channels to augment the main two channel system. For those who still enjoy the pleasures of a large two channel collection, we present a system with credentials and one that has the flexibility to grow as your system does.
For Wilson Benesch, high performance is the same for two channel as it is for multi channel. Accuracy, wide bandwidth and the highest signal to noise ratio possible, these are what define a high end loudspeaker. Then there are more subtle concerns that are defined by the choice of components. So you will see the same principal components in the Square, as you will in the Chimera!
