A beautifully handcrafted 2-way, floor standing loudspeaker, the Square Two takes over where the Square One left off, with all the command and authority of a floor standing design.
A full range floor standing design based around the same drive technology as it’s book shelf counterpart. The Square Two exists because of our belief that the design philosophy and technology developed for the companies reference lines, could be distilled in a beautiful, handcrafted loudspeaker based on a more traditional aesthetic and cabinet material choice.
The revolutionary Tactic Drive Unit, delivers both the midrange and bass frequency in the Square Two. This powerful, dynamic drive unit is complimented by a bespoke, Wilson Benesch spec, Scanspeak Tweeter. A minimal crossover design ensures that the bespoke drive technology is free to operate optimally, with a pure signal path between the drivers and the amplifier. The Square Two delivers a frequency range from 40Hz to 24kHz.
The Square Series II sound is more than the sum of the drive unit technologies it boasts, internally Wilson Benesch has applied design philosophy developed for its reference loudspeaker lines ensuring that both series share a family sound and class leading signal-to-noise ratios.
Finished with a high gloss or matt veneer expertly handcrafted by Bentley Motors trained craftsmen and the low profile laser cut steel grill create the finishing touches to a remarkable, British built loudspeaker.

WHAT HIFI? MAGAZINE 2007
Bentley crafted veneers conceal the same internal systems that elevate the Square Series II to a quite different class. Square 2 celebrates its strengths and provides the first access point to the truly beautiful sound that can come from a floor standing loudspeaker. With a virtual absence of crossover elements only a second order network to protect the tweeter the system is capable of being driven by almost any amplifier and will sincerely reveal its strengths while adding so little of its self thanks to the range of sophisticated systems arranged within the cabinet to defeat cabinet noise. Simply Perfect.

Tactic driver
Having secured a £250,000 DTi SMART Award from the government as part of the development of the Chimera loudspeaker, Wilson Benesch developed its on drive technology in the shape of the highly regarded tactic drive unit. A blisteringly fast and dynamic multi role drive technology manufactured entirely in house alongside the unique Semisphere tweeter. The tactic drive unit at the heart of the Square Two, is a highly optimised engineered component built to the exact requirements of the Square Series II.
ABR
At the rear of the Square Two cabinet, a unique, high-energy loss diaphragm effectively manages out of phase energy to improve dynamics and perfectly damp the exuberant capabilities of the Tactic Drive Unit. Absorbing energy produced by the drive unit into a lossy structure and thus reducing the potential for resonance in the loudspeaker cabinet. Placed directly behind the mid / bass Tactic Drive Unit, the ABR also enhances the low frequency extension of the drive unit much like a port.
In a relatively compact design such as the Square Two, one advantage of the ABR, as opposed to a port, is the relative freedom that the ABR gives in terms of rear wall placement since the ABR does not load a nearby facing wall to the same degree that a port would. For owners with limited space in the listening room, this can be an important consideration.
HAND CRAFTED FINISHING
Each Square Two, like any Wilson Benesch product has been built by a team of highly trained craftsmen. The cabinet design, like the Tactic drive units at the heart of the Square Series II, is the result of a fastidious attention to detail and engineering excellence. It is the same team of engineers and craftsmen that are responsible for the Cardinal flagship and for this reason you can be sure that the Square Two is a true high end speaker system
SCANSPEAK TWEETER
Familiar from the Odyssey Range and the Wide Bandwidth Collection, the ScanSpeak Tweeter is a 25mm (1”) fabric-dome tweeter. The tweeter has been modified to a Wilson Benesch specification, featuring an improved magnet assembly and no ferrofluid.

5-Star Review
"Perfectly manufactured, beautifully designed, integrating very high quality transducers, the Wilson Benesch Square Two speakers suit perfectly any home interior. They deliver a musical message with a surprisingly extended bass presentation and have the ability to be adapted to the tastes of the listener by simply altering their position."

CABINET CONSTRUCTION
The Square Two extracts the full advantages of the Tactic Multi-role Drive Unit design, deploying one single driver to reproduce both the bass and midrange frequencies. As with the Square Three, the Square Two retains a highly articulate character in its sonic presentation. The speaker is natural and balanced, with large open imaging.
This character is borne from the Tactic Drive Units, however the use of a variety of technologies in the speaker cabinet achieve vanishingly low levels of noise and coloration, which allows the Tactic Drive Units to excel. The technologies at play include the carbon composite technologies, taken from the Geometry Series, and added to the Square Series II in the form of internal bracing. In addition, high and medium mass alloy pads, visco-elastically bonded to the cabinet walls, add critical mass damping.
