Hard Act to follow – Curve Review

You want solid? Here’s solid. You want heavy? The CD player in this Anglo-German ensemble is so heavy, you’ll feel like a seven-stone weakling just lifting it on to the stand. (If you’re a seven-stone weakling, welcome to the immovable object.) You want sharp lines? The power amps could splice a human hair at 20 paces. You want high-tech? Any higher and you’d need an oxygen mask.

Wilson Benesch on Mars

Wilson Benesch adds Mars Rover CAD CAM Software to their technical arsenal technology piled upon advanced technology, in the service of music.

Not content with building some of the world’s finest turntables and hi-fi / home cinema loudspeakers in carbon-fibre using F1 racing car and stealth fighter technology, Wilson Benesch have upgraded their design and manufacturing facilities as they prepare to celebrate 15 years of innovation in audio design and manufacture. (15th Anniversary in 2005)

Wilson Benesch has expanded its advanced manufacturing facilities by adopting the very latest generation of 3D photo-realistic CAD CAM
software. (Computer Aided Design – Computer Aided manufacturing)

The software chosen was used to develop and animate the full working prototype of the Mars Rover before any material was cut.

This investment at Wilson Benesch will enable the company to rapid prototype new products and develop these in close collaboration with its global distribution. Anyone in the world can be sent e-files that show exact three dimensional animated images, that can then be commented upon, sectioned and even re-dimensioned before returning to Wilson Benesch.

As well as being able to produce code used in rapid prototyping and significantly reducing development time, the systems will be able to drive the company’s State of The Art CNC machining plant to produce the next generation of carbon fibre audio products.

NYC Home Entertainment Show

Wilson Benesch to Sponsor the Only Unamplified Live Music Performance at Home Entertainment 2004 in New York City. Peter Sykes’ performance at Home Entertainment 2004 in New York City, 6:15 PM on Saturday afternoon May 22nd, will consist of J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, to be played on a harpsichord by David Rubio (1977).

Professor Sykes will play in the Regent Parlor on the second floor. Equally at home in the worlds of Baroque and modern music, Sykes’ interests range from Baroque opera continuo playing on the harpsichord, to the organ works of Max Reger. Sykes’ recording of his own bravura organ transcription of Holst’s orchestral suite The Planets created a worldwide sensation. He is Director of Music at First Church in Cambridge (Congregational), and a member of the faculties of the Longy School of Music, Boston University, and the New England Conservatory.

Peter Sykes’ performances have been made possible by Wilson Benesch, The Sound Organisation, and John Marks Records. Sunday noontime he will visit with Wilson Benesch and The Sound Organisation in their suite on Concourse G, to sign autographs and listen to his The Planets recording on Wilson Benesch loudspeakers.
