Wilson Benesch Geometry Series Launch Report One

Wilson Benesch
Geometry Series Launch Bristol 2011

Ten years ago Wilson Benesch launched the Odyssey Range. The range won world wide acclaim and remains popular and successful to this day. With the Launch of the Geometry Series, Wilson Benesch look to build upon the success and reputation acquired over two decades. Like all Wilson Benesch products, the Geometry Series marks a step forward in terms of design and manufacturing, playing host to an array of new cutting edge technologies, that will remain competitive in 2021.

Geometry Series Concept

The Geometry Series is the result of an holistic approach to loudspeaker design and manufacture: Cutting edge materials, purpose-built moulding technologies and next generation production technology deliver an unparalleled performance.

The Geometry Series is comprised of four models:

Vertex – Mini Floor Standing design (available as of April 2011)

Vector – Floor Standing design (available as of April 2011)

Fulcrum – Flagship Channel for Cinema (available late 2011)

Cardinal – Flagship Floor Standing design (available late 2011)

Radical Shell Structure

The elegant forms of the Odyssey Series have been retained but cabinet architecture is radically different. One of the great advantages of the Geometry Series is the poly alloy Shell Structure. Pushed to the limits with a new hybrid construction the Shell Structure achieves unprecedented signal to noise ratios. Thanks to the absence of internal bracing a huge internal air volume is realised that also sees the smallest external surface. In the geometry Series we have set another industry standard.

Drive Unit Harmonisation

Wilson Benesch has a track record that has always challenged the conventional concepts. The devotion to advanced carbon composite based structural architecture, the Sphere wide bandwidth piezo ceramic tweeter and the hybrid Isobaric drive unit are just some of the more notable examples. In the Semisphere tweeter that debuts in the Geometry Series you will see that we have explored completely new territories once again. With its open architecture motor drive and hybrid construction dome we have pushed the frequency limits of the soft dome whilst retaining all the virtues of this time proven solution. Combined with the advanced motor design of the extremely powerful Tactic II, we see the quest for perfection through harmony with the tweeter.

This four part report on the Launch of the Geometry Series will run through March and April. It begins with a brief introduction to the Geometry Series. A timelapse video of the setup at the venue is also included.

Part Two will provide photographs of the Vertex and Vector, included in the launch of the new Geometry Series product pages. Further to this Wilson Benesch will provide the full timelapse video captured at the very successful Geometry Series launch weekend in Bristol last month, which shows Setup and each day of the Bristol Show at high speed.

Part Three will provide an overview of some of the new technologies that define these radical designs. The feature will include some of the elements presented by Design Director, Craig Milnes at the Launch.

Part Four will provide a unique opportunity to see some of the first components of the Geometry Series being machined within the Wilson Benesch C.N.C. machine Suite.
